Active Earth   This five-week training program for outdoor guides and educators combines the intellectual background necessary to facilitate ecological awareness, the technical skills needed

to lead eco-education courses in the outdoors, and mentored work experience.

This program is unique in Europe.

The training is based at our venue in Sant Aniol in the Spanish Pyrenees. Its various training sessions provide insights into the psychologies of outdoor activities as well as exploration of educational techniques and materials, culminating in a final co-leadership experience. The course is a full training pathway towards responsible and independent outdoor leadership. It allows for professional practice, supported by individual coaching and mentoring throughout the course. Participants are invited to join EasyDay staff in recreational activities like rock climbing, mountain biking, free diving and canyoning in their free-time.

A primary objective for running this course is to recruit new staff into the ActiveEarth/EasyDay team. This course also aims to support other outdoor organisations training their staff in the design and facilitation of cutting-edge adventure eco-education or tourism.

Week One
The first week frames the entire five-week program and introduces participants to EasyDay, its culture and the content of its courses.

We develop individual training plans based on participant’s aspirations. This week also serves to familiarise ourselves with the surroundings – its mountains, rocks, and canyons.

Week one concludes with the first highlight, the ActiveEarth Gathering, where experienced outdoor leaders, corporate responsibility specialists, environmental activists, and artists come together. Course participants can engage in various workshops and discussion panels on ethics, communication skills and networking.

Week Five
The course’s final week is reserved for co-facilitation. Individually mentored and supported by an EasyDay guide, participants will co-lead outdoor activities and theory sessions. Their progress will be discussed in daily debriefing meetings.

The program concludes with an extensive evaluation session that documents the participant’s personal development, identifying strengths and weaknesses and by outlining paths for further development.

Accommodation and Catering
The course is fully residential at the EasyDay campsite base at Sant Aniol, with all catering included.
