Location
Slovenia is a beautiful country framed by the Julian Alps and the Adriatic Sea. It’s one of the rare places in Europe where you can swim in the warm waters of the Mediterranean in the morning, and spend the afternoon abseiling waterfalls in a beautiful mountain valley.
Our base is located in one of the most fascinating mountain valleys in the European Alps – the Soça valley. It is a landscape of towering rock peaks, deep green valleys, crystal-clear blue water, thick forests and gorgeous alpine meadows filled with extensive flora and fauna. The Soça river, called “the Emerald Beauty” for its emerald-green waters, crosses right through the Triglav National Park, named after Slovenia’s highest peak, Mount Triglav (2864m).
The tranquil alpine town of Bovec, the logistical centre in the valley, lies just a few kilometres from the Italian and Austrian borders. Situated at the intersection of various empires and cultures, the valley has a unique feel, as well as a long history of struggle and war. In spite of all the tragedies and conflicts, the valley’s people have remained incredibly warm and friendly.
